Support Team Partners

ViewRanger

ViewRanger is a unique immersive-mapping tool for smartphones that provides information about your immediate surroundings through a natural and intuitive display. This is the only tool we use for GPS/digital mapping and we'd like to thank Craig and Mike at ViewRanger for becoming support team partners with us.

We're really looking forward to working with the product and the ViewRanger team to improve both our rides and this fantastic product through mutually beneficial feedback and application review processes and also product beta testing.

Using ViewRanger, friends and family of our riders will be able to track our teams live during the events we run! We'll also, as ride guides, be able to locate other ride guides / groups on our mobile devices so that we can effectively route ourselves to them when groups are split. The software also records all of the route details as we ride (distance, average speed, max speed, min speed, elevation information and so-on) so that we can review this at the end of each day and plan the following day's accordingly.

We're currently in discussions with the ViewRanger team to see if we can offer the product with pre-loaded maps for our events to CharityAdventure.org.uk riders. Commission from these sales would go towards the charities we're riding for. You would, of course, be able to buy the full ViewRanger product for your mobile device through us including a variety of maps (full UK, North of the UK, South of the UK, etc) - again with any commission going to a charity of our choice. For more details about this offer, our our experiences to date with the software please contact us.

Edinburgh Bicycle Cooperative

Edinburgh is the city where they started, and where they are still based.

The shop in Bruntsfield, Edinburgh, has long been recognised as the best-stocked bicycle store in Scotland. You can now experience a similar offer at their branches in Aberdeen, Newcastle-upon-Tyne, Leeds and Manchester.

Bicycles are their passion. To quote the Pulitzer Prize-winning Californian novelist, William Saroyan, ‘The bicycle is the noblest invention of mankind. I love the bicycle. I always have. I can think of no sincere, decent human being, male or female, young or old, saint or sinner, who can resist the bicycle.’

Co-operative is how they organise themselves. Every Edinburgh Bicycle worker becomes a co-op member, with an equal share in the business, after serving a one-year ‘apprenticeship’. Edinburgh Bicycle Co-op now has approximately 100 members. They trust that this staff involvement will always manifest itself in the form of friendly, informed professional advice whenever you visit one of their shops, or give them a call, or use their secure online service.

The co-op's mission statement is to 'Promote cycling in the UK as a pastime, and as a method of transport by making it easier and more enjoyable to own and ride a bike.' That's why they strive to stock the widest selection of genuinely useful cycling equipment.
